The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

That would be General Conference weekend.
(Though technically, it happens twice a year.)
~

For my living Prophets class, I had to make a book of quotes from October's Conference.

It was awesome.

I cried frequently (blame Lil').

~
A few favorites to whet our appetites:
~
“The next time you’re tempted to groan, you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable” (Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, Ensign, November 2008, p. 27).
~
“The simple secret is this: put your trust in the Lord, do your best, then leave the rest to Him” (Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, Ensign, November 2008, p. 28).
~
“The most meaningful and spiritual prayers I have experienced contained many expressions of thanks and few, if any, requests” (Elder David A. Bednar, Ensign, November 2008, p. 42).
~
“As we lift others, we rise a little higher ourselves” (President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Ensign, November 2008, p. 119).
~
“In the end, the number of prayers we say may contribute to our happiness, but the number of prayers we answer may be of even greater importance. Let us open our eyes and see the heavy hearts, notice the loneliness and despair; let us feel the silent prayers of others around us, and let us be an instrument in the hands of the Lord to answer those prayers” (President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Ensign, November 2008, p. 120).
~
“The scriptures confirm that Father in Heaven saved His greatest, most splendid, supreme creation, woman, to the end. Only after all else was completed was woman created. Only then was the work pronounced complete and good” (Elder Richard G. Scott, Ensign, November 2008, p. 46).
~
And my favoritest talk:

Elder Quentin L. Cook

Enjoy your weekend.

Thank you for those quotes! Lish and I are studying talks from last conference, and they really are so beautiful and inspired. And that is such a beautiful picture of the temple.

Do they even have General Conference way out there in Tennessee? Or do you just have to read the transcripts a few months later like they do in Russia?

We do have conference, believe it or not. If we don't want to watch it on a tiny computer screen, though, we have to travel ALL THE WAY to the church and watch it. IN CHURCH CLOTHES! It is at 12, 4, and 8 though, which is weird.
